OverviewThe Baldwin Trail is a great little climb or descent depemding on which way you go. Usually Baldwin is ridden in connection with Templeton WHich would be a climb from the bottom of Templeton ending on Verde Valley School Rd.
Trail DescriptionOnce you reach the Baldwin Trail off Templeton it will be a left heading up a small drainage with Cathedral Rock on your left and a smaller unamed Red Rock Butte on the right. Once your heading up it's a great climb with a couple steep techy climbs to test your ability. At the top of the climb you will come to a pass between Cathedral and the Butte on your right. Once over the pass you will start some small ups and downs traversing the Butte on your right. As you traverse part way up the side of the Butte yo will see Verde Valley School Rd. Below to your left. The trail eventually swithcbacks down to the left towards the Rd. There are a number of small spur trails on the way towards the road just take the most obvios route. Once at Verde Valley School Rd. head left to ride the Rd. back or find your car.
You can ride Baldwin down then up Templeton which is a sweet but short descent down Baldwin and then huff puff up the switch backs on Templeton.
Getting ThereFrom the "Y" (Intersection of Hwy 179 & 89a) in Sedona head south on Hwy. 179 for 6.2 mi to Bell Rock Pathway Trail Head to combine Baldwin with Bell Rock Pathway and Templeton. To go the oppisite route continue driving or ride to Bell Rock Blvd. (.1 miles) turn right for 1 mile to Verde Valley School Rd. turn right for 3 miles down Verde Valley School Rd. to the Baldwin Trail Head on the right. (No Parking, 1 mile further there is a lot on the left)
