rustybike | How is it possible ?
Voted 10/10 | Great images accompanying an equally great article. Although I'm wondering if it is possible to go uphill in deep snow on a mountain bike. Downhill biking is more likely...
As earlier implied by someone else , a deep freeze may make all the difference as long as the rubber grips in the ice ...
The last time I tried riding on ice I almost became another casualty of existence...Mind you in this day and age most of us enjoy improvising as daredevils at least once in our lives...Anyone ever watch film footage of competitions of suicidal daredevils using their mountain bikes to go down very steep slopes ?
Like earlier indicated ,I tend to be curious if not investigative by nature... | Posted Jan 21, 2010 11:54 pm |

Hasn't voted | It wasn't possible uphill as you say Rusty!!! I was pushing a 30lb hunk of metal for 2 hrs. But the downhill was sweet!!! And very unpredictable. Thanks for your comments and vote. | Posted Jan 22, 2010 10:46 am |
rustybike | I thought so ...Re:How is it possible...
Voted 10/10 | I wasn't certain about that . Although by past experience I did tend to believe that an uphill struggle was extremely tiring if not impossible. But then I'm an overweight couch potato ...
Mind you, I typically go up a hill on foot in my quest for some images from the summit. I'm thus one of those treckers which basically uses his bike to carry the luggage ! Although it did happen to me to be tempted by a slope once going down to almost lose my grip in a mud pond full of moguls (boulders) which must precipitate a much graver fall than what typically happens in fluff ! Thus winter biking on such paths must be safer at least for aspiring daredevils !
By the way; check out the daredevil videos out there showing suicidal contestants going down a ski slope in summer ! Thank god the folks here are more reasonable with accounts that are more in contact with reality by showing the scenic side of things with due consideration for the inherent difficulties without forgetting the thrills of a ride on the wild side ! | Posted Jan 22, 2010 5:54 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Just to give an example, I found this video descriptive of the sport that gives a good idea of what exteme biking involves without going to the extreme of what I had observed at one point in the past with contestants going down an extreme slope !
