OverviewA beautiful scenic route that connects: the beach of love (Capoliveri) to Mount Magnet Mine, once the largest open pit iron mine of Italy.
The colossal terraced steps and the remains of abandoned machinery used in the extraction and the machining of the mineral, create an atmosphere of great charm made more beautiful by all the colors of the minerals.
It s a beautiful circular route of nine kilometers to cover alone with one eye constantly facing the blue sea.

From the parking lot of the beach begins a road (road of Enamoured) and up the hill in about ten minutes brings you to a junction from which to begin a wide dirt path.
Park your car and follow the path.
The TrailThe "Gulf of Enamoured" was one time busy from the docks where the ships docked waiting to load: hematite, magnetite and pyrite, to take to iron and steelworks.
The path called: "Iron Route" was the route of the narrow gauge railway that carried the ferrous material from the mine to the docks.
The path enters a valley reaching the bottom and crossing through an ancient stone bridge.
You reach the opposite side towards the sea toward the cliff that separates the beach of fell in love from that of the "cannello".
Along the way you can see the remains of oxidized rocks fallen from the train, and small strands of red mineral.
the trail then continues almost flat reaching some big hopper wagons abandoned (2 km-115 m in height - 15 ').
From this point the trail continues on the brink of the cliff protected by a fence.
Passed with a narrow gate you enter the proper mining area, you will reach a large clearing where you can see the entire lower part of the mine.
On your right, at the height of an information panel, begins a steep path that leads to the mining area below.
is a nice path downhill to deal with some caution.
Go through one after another the great valleys of mining, first reaching a vast square where there is a caterpillar abandoned for more than thirty years.
To the right of you there is a vast reservoir of excavation steps designed to extract the ore.
The Whole rock wall worked is as colorful as a painter's palette (yellow ocher, red, brown).
Almost in the sea there are the colossal machinery for the grinding of the ore and the long conveyor belts carrying the material to the sea and then to the pier (3.8 km, 40 ', 20 meters high).
On the right you can descend a steep staircase to reach the sea and the beach formed over the decades with the continuous discharge of waste matter of the mine (called del "Cannello").
Going up the long straights, interspersed with wide turns, the service road, we reach again the tip of the mine.
Beyond a bar, after a few hundred meters to your left, there is the mining museum (Scopriminiera), in the old mining offices.
It's worth stopping to visit the small museum full of tools, photographs and documents, evidence of more than one hundred years.
there is also a small bar where, finally, drink something cool and refreshing.
Then go back towards the beach of fell in love and the parking of your car (9 Km.)
