Galenzana is one of the most beautiful beaches of the bay of Marina di Campo, is facing South-East and it is perfectly sheltered from the winds and currents.

From early morning until late afternoon it is heated and illuminated by the Mediterranean sun.

It can only be reached on foot (or mountain bike) using a CAI path that starts from Marina di Campo.

This limited accessibility means that even in August it is not taken by assault by hordes of noisy tourists.

In most (which is very rare in Italy), is allowed access to the dogs!

Getting There

The Harbor & Belvedere Road
From Portoferraio Harbor take the statal road direction Marciana Marina.

Trail Description

We start from the port of Marina di Campo, dominated by the lovely little tower that someone wants from Pisa.

the perron
The Perron

Take the road Bellavista , the most characteristic of the historical campese ,a staircase that leads us in the upper part of the country.

In the mediterranean Forest
In the Forest

We continue until it becomes a dirt path , shaded by a pine forest overlooking the promontory of the tower described above. In short we come to a road.

Abandoned the last houses of the village dirt road leads us to a few tens of meters at a crossroads, in the locality of Anthill.

On the Path
The Bay

Just an hour or so to make a detour (left) onto the beach in Galenzana . The first section continues on a narrow dirt road has little traffic , including low scrub that will allow us some insight on our first goal.

The Sailors little Chapel
The Chapel

Once in a pretty little chapel, turn left on a path protected by palisades that in less than ten minutes takes you to the cove , including a thick gorse and low oak .

The beach unfortunately in recent years has undergone considerable erosion and has now been cut in two. Yet retains a certain charm wild, only partially cracked by an old house behind him.

We can all take his bow to the pier Punta Bardella, which closes a stretch of low water, where every so often can stop a bird. In the back of the beach, between late spring and early summe , you may notice some interesting flowering, first of all that of the sea lily.

Just in front of us is presented in the view of Marina di Campo, with the tower of the port to be vigilant on the beach.

From the beach, or rather from the farm (Agriturismo Galenzana),start a beautiful path through a dense forest that in about an hour leads to the promontory of Capo Poro.
On the end of which is placed a Lighthouse for sailors.

On clear days you can see a large part of the Tuscan archipelago, the islands of: Giglio, Montecristo, Pianosa and even Corsica.

The bike path is only for short stretches, in downhill is a fun way of Cross-Country.
