Loop around the Adršpach rocksEnd of October. First free week-end, rain hasn't felt since at least two weeks, there is not a single puddle of mud, and last days of what we call the golden autumn, too ephemeral season.
Perhaps too busy with races and events of all kinds, my exploration of new MTB lands was quite limited this year, but once all races gone, I told myself I should dedicate at least one day to some proper ride.
Last year I rode the fantastic area of the Broumov Walls, and the one on top of the list was the area neighbouring it, the Adršpach-Teplice rocks. This area is very famous for hiking (and sandstone rock-climbing) due to the world famous rock formations.
Unlike the Broumov walls, we cannot bike inside the Adršpach-Teplice rocks as it is first impossible (too rocky) and second a a national park. But we can circumvent it, which is a very fine ride. One can append to it the neighbouing Ostaš hill plus some diversions on the north close to the Polish border.
Finally, it is worth mention that Broumov and Adršpach host what was for many years one of the most popular, if not the most, MTB marathon in Czech Republic, the famous Sudety Specialized rallye (sponsored by the brand). The path we followed was a half of its route. We may take part in it next year, so we didn't choose it by random !
Since Julen broke his bike (or rather: was broken after falling from the roof of Wojtek's car, who had a little accident), I lent him my old blue Spec. Cesar joined too with his Mondraker.
