The "transfrontalier", trans-border trail, is originally a hiking trail, nowadays not very popular but maintained, that used to be the old road to the Spanish border via the pass Port de Bielsa, when the road did not exist yet.
Nowadays this piece of singletrack can be also visited by bike. The approach is done on a large track, then elevates through a serie of laces that involve some hard climb and very probably some bike-pushing.
Later on, we cross portions with more moderate gradient but high exposure on the left. Then, on a magnificent open terrain, a great downhill.
The return is made on the other side of the valley via the track between Tramezaygues and Saint-Lary. A short but intense ride !
A Short map is better than a description, particularly in this case, so zoom on this IGN hiking map with the GPS route (download GPX here) :
From the A64 motorway linking Toulouse to Bayonne, exit at Lannemezan and take the road into the Vallée d'Aure (direction of Arreau).
Depending on where you start, you can park in Saint Lary or further.
