The Templeton trail runs from Bell Rock Pathway just north of Bell Rock down to Oak Creek. Templeton is fun & flowing and will induce a smile. Most of the trail is fairly easy with an occasional small techy climb or descent. Templeton is best riden Starting from Bell Rock Pathway

Trail Description

Once on Templeton from Bell Rock Pathway take the quick descent heading towards and under Hwy 179. Be ready for a peddle drop or dismount as soon as you come out of the tunnel. Then immediatly take a left out of the wash for a quick steep climb. After this point Fun flowing ups and downs keep the moral high. You will pass under the new portion of 179 and after 1 mile you will intersect the H.T. trail. Stay to the left for Templeton as it makes its way towards Cathedral Rock. The trail eventually ends up on a slick rock bench traversing around the base of Cathedral. You will intersect the Cathedral Rock Trail, keep traversing. You will then come to the top of the switchbacks heading down to Oak Creek. For some this portion which is quick is a walk but for me it's the best part.....don't dab one switch back is almost too tight but not quite. Once at the bottom the trail follows downstream on Oak Creek coming to a super chunky rock garden, you can get it. Great place for a break next to Oak Creek, take a dip in the chilly water. Continuing on for another 1\4 mile to the Baldwin Trail to exit back to Verde Valley School Rd or continue following Templeton to Red Rock Crossing. Baldwin is the best route out. Taking either of these routes out you can either ride verde valley school rd. back or have a car spotted on Verde Valley School Rd. You can also return the way you came or link into West Sedona Trails.

Getting There

As mentioned above Templeton is usually accesed from Bell Rock Pathways. There is a pull off on Hwy 179 between Mile post 309 & 310 to Start directly on Templeton. We usually ride from the Bike & Bean up Bell Rock Pathways down Templeton up Baldwin then ride Verde Valley School Rd to Bell Rock Blvd. to Hwy 179 where the Bike & Bean is 100 ft down the Hwy.
