Preamble.
During my ten-year search of historical material on the epic Chaberton and his men, I was able to acquire hundreds, if not thousand of historical photos. From the first glass plate negatives, to the stereo photographs, films on celluloid, photos printed at postcard size.
I also had the good fortune to find a set of Color Agfa slides (dated July 1943), perhaps some of the earliest color pictures taken in Italy.
Since the mid-nineteenth century to the present day, photography has really made great strides.
Yet, every time I play a vintage photoI can only impress me with the results of those little wooden boxes.
Allow us to see our mountains, the humanity of one hundred, one hundred and fifty years ago.....
....is not just a poor emotion.
